Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation supports collaborative efforts of key stakeholders by providing fiscal support for grant funding of “Visit Canoa” projects.

Projects scheduled for 2018 are the Salcido-Amarillas Western Research LIbrary, Canoa Cache Challenge, the “Visit Canoa” educational tourism campaign, twelve informational signs to be displayed at the Canoa rest area on highway I-19, and the Canoa Speaks preservation project, collaborative planning with Pima County to study and raise funds for the restoration of Canoa Pond on the Historic Canoa Ranch, and two annual Adopt-A-Highway clean up days.

Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation, Inc. is an all-volunteer community organization that was established in 2010 by passionate community stakeholders for the purpose of providing support, financial and otherwise to advance the Canoa Ranch Master Plan for the preservations and development of the Historic Canoa Ranch owned by Pima County, Arizona, and the communities of Canoa.

Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the experience of the visitor to Canoa by providing fiscal oversight to projects that will educate and engage the public in the rich history and heritage reflected in the surrounding Canoa Valley.

We Need Your Help!

Friends of Canoa Heritage Foundation is ramping up their “VISIT CANOA” projects for the upcoming tourist season with a focus on adventure and entertainment. Volunteers are needed for these four projects:

Canoa Cache Challenge

…a high tech treasure hunting game (think geocaching) that leads participants to sites of interest which may contain a chance to win one of a hundred copper coins, prizes, and more. Volunteers needed: Youth and adults all ages to help create cache containers, identify, place and maintain cache sites, business liaison, social media postings, and adventure seekers.

Canoa Speaks

Calling all amateur and aspiring filmmakers! Help us create a video production series for cultural preservation highlighting the history and memories of people that have lived in and traveled through Canoa. Volunteers needed: Youth 15 to 25 & adults who are interested in film making, social media, and languages have a passion for local heritage and history, or the desire to help locate past residents and/or their descendants.

Canoa Attractions Challenge

Visit all 26 local Canoa Attractions, and be the “Local Who Knows” about all there is to see and do here. Share your knowledge with visitors and guests. Want to lead a caravan tour? Give us a call and we’ll help you organize it. To volunteer for any of these exciting projects and make a difference in your community, contact Dawn Morley (520-289-3940), inspired@VisitCanoa.com.
