Current opportunities

Friends In Deed loans a wide variety of durable medical equipment and provides transportation throughout Green Valley including wheelchair bound clients. Friends In Deed has been serving the Green Valley community for more than 50 years. Friends In Deed is an all-volunteer organization.

We have what you need… JUST ASK!

We have more than 250 active volunteers dedicated to providing a wide spectrum of free services to the Green Valley community. Our mission is to continue providing these services as the community grows.

Volunteering Opportunities

  • Front Desk/Receptionist–greet public and direct them to meetings. Help clients with equipment choices. Record loans, returns and donations of equipment. Answer phone and give information.
  • Equipment Delivery & Pick-up–deliver or pick-up equipment for those unable to come to FID (using your own vehicle).
  • Equipment Cleaning and Repair–thoroughly steam clean, sanitize and repair equipment in accordance with FID “Standard Practices.”
  • Transportation Dispatch–Staff CTV office, scheduling drivers for Green Valley residents’ trips in Green Valley (3-day advance notice) and Tucson (5-day advance notice).
  • Transportation Personal Driver–drive Green Valley residents to medical appointments in Green Valley or Tucson. Also drive them to grocery store, pharmacy, etc. (using your own vehicle).
  • Companion–provide companionship for FID clients who do not have one, as required for certain procedures (e.g. colonoscopy, endoscopy, etc.) Policy signed at Interview.
  • Van Driver–drive FID van for shopping trips to Tucson Malls or wheelchair van for medical appointments.
  • Transportation Clerk–enter information for Transportation Department.
  • Blood Pressure Technician–take blood pressures for clients on Tuesday and/or Friday (8:30 am to 10:30 am).
  • Blood Pressure Clerk–keep count of number of clients. Direct clients to available technician, maintain quiet comfortable surroundings, keep lines moving and inform visitors of FID Friday in next room.
  • Friends in Deed Fridays–set up, serve refreshments and socialize with attendees (8:30 to 10:30 am). Also, clean-up afterward.
  • FID Historian Assistant–work with historian to compile and maintain FID Scrapbooks.
  • Board Member–must be a FID member for one year. Attend monthly Board Meetings and participate in committee activities.
  • Committee Member–analyze various programs and proposals relative to governing FID.
  • Maintenance, Handy-Person and Carpenters
  • Computer Networking Specialist/Technology Support
  • Fundraising Department–work with Foundation Board on fundraising projects.
