The American Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are the only organization working to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. And we do it all 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Together, we’re making a difference and you can, too. Become a volunteer for our Road To Recovery Program in the Tucson area.

The Road to Recovery program connects volunteer drivers with cancer patients who need transportation to and from their cancer-related treatments. Transportation is one of the biggest barriers to cancer care because even the best treatment can’t work if a patient doesn’t have a way to get there.

Our requirements for becoming a volunteer driver are:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • A good driving record
  • A current, valid driver’s license
  • Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
  • Proof of adequate automobile insurance
  • Complete an American Cancer Society online training course
  • Some availability to drive Monday through Friday during the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

We accept drivers who are interested in driving as often as every day, once a month, or as often as they’re able!
