We are seeking volunteers for our Technical and Financial Advisory Committees. Our committees are the backbone of the district. They meet once per month to review current and future operations. Their role is to consider and recommend policy to the Board of Directors to further its mission to provide safe, high-quality water service to our community, while maintaining a standard of excellence in customer service and environmental conservation. There is no need to have a formal understanding of a water district. What is more important is the value of your expertise and common sense. Your background and interests will guide you to which committee to serve on.

Why Volunteers Are Important

Currently, we operate as a local entity, making us the masters of our destiny. If we are unable to garner enough volunteers to keep us running, the Pima County Board of Supervisors could take over the district’s management. We would lose local control of our water.

History of the Green Valley Water District

The original water company, Green Valley Water Company, was owned and operated by Fairfield, the developer of the southern part of Green Valley. When Fairfield put the company up for sale, a group of homeowners formed a committee to explore options to purchase the company. In 2002, the district was formed so homeowners have a say in the operation and charge rates. The continued support of volunteers allows the district to maintain its independence in guiding its destiny.

Our meetings are open to the public.  You’re always invited to attend any of our meetings. No reservation is required.  The meeting schedule is available on the office bulletin board and on the district website www.gvwaterdistrict.com.
